Ongoing and past funded research initiatives at MHUG.
Horizon Europe Project ELIAS (European Lighthouse of AI for Sustainability) ELIAS will address key scientific questions about how AI can reduce computational costs, serves to model effects of policy decisions on society, and impacts individuals. ELIAS will strive for a deep integration of the fundamental research that takes place in academia and the more applications-focused research from industry. ELIAS builds on and expands the highly successful and internationally recognized European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS).
ELLIOT is a European research project that develops the next generation of artificial intelligence (AI) systems, called multimodal foundation models. These are advanced AI models that can understand and connect information from different sources at once, such as text, images, video, audio, and data streams. The project’s goal is to make these powerful AI tools more reliable, transparent, and useful in real-world settings while ensuring they follow European values of ethics, trust, and fairness.
This project aims to bridge the gap in multimodal deep learning by developing a unified neural-symbolic paradigm that enables the seamless integration, retrieval, and generation of interconnected text, audio, and visual data.
